The Chestnut Festival - Co-ordinators Tasks. The Festival could not be hosted without the terrific effort from our parents and staff. Towards the end of the year we begin looking for people to co-ordinate each stall, a committee is formed and regular meetings begin. Below is a general rundown of the tasks, positions are run by one person or shared between a couple of people. Co-ordinator -Responsible for booking the venue, food permits, marquee hire etc. Chairs the meetings and tries to keep everyone happy and enthused! Advertising -Mainly responsible for the marketing of our Festival to local papers and distributing flyers. Cakes -Our families and friends are asked to bake cakes and biscuits for this stall and the coordinator hands out plates and bags to use, labels and prices cakes on the day and runs the stall. Chestnuts -Responsible for collecting Chestnuts from farms and storing them, organises a 'snipping' night at the Preschool and manages the stall and roasting of the Chestnuts on the day. Devonshire Teas & Coffees -Quite obvious what this coordinator does! Hot Food -Organises the bread, meat. sausages, hamburgers, onions etc. Sets up and oversees the cooking of food and ensures food safety regulations are adhered to. Outside Stalls -Responsible for sending out invitiations to previous stall holders, collating all returned applications and payments and directing the stall holders to spots on the day. Poffertjes-Little pancakes, for anyone not sure what these little morsels are. Responsible for collecting Poffertje maker, buying ingredients & mixing sufficient batter and cooking the poffertjes. Raffles-
This wonderful fundraiser was started by a parent in 2008 and was very popular. The new coordinator is responsible for contacting B&B owners from our list plus adding as many new ones as possible. Tickets were sold at $30 each in 2008 but will go up to $50 in response to comments from B&B owners and buyers too. The coordinator is also responsible for collating the prizes, thanking donors and running the stall on the day. Every ticket purchased wins a prize.
Also a terrific fundraiser, this raffle has been running for a number of years. The coordinator is responsible for seeking prize donations from a list already compiled and sourcing new donors too. Prizes are numbered and the coordinator runs the stall on the day. Show Bags -Our showbag coordinator is responsible for ordering showbags and sourcing some free items that are added to the bags to make them a great buy. Plus setting up the stall on the day with a display. Wine & Beer -This was new in 2008 and was very capably run by the team from the Pig & Whistle pub in Mt Dandenong. Hopefully it can continue, even if only with Mulled Wine?! Plants-Another great earner for our festival. the coordinator is responsible for contacting nurseries and growers for donations of plants and collecting them. Setting up the stall display on the day and managing sales. Every Stall is very important to the success of our Festival and it is hoped that we can continue to run all stalls and increase our profit from year to year. We are a small Preschool with a large event to run and depend on all our families and friends to help out.
